Mixtapes

When I used to live in Paris I regurlarly had to take the péripherique. This is the highway that goes all around Paris, like a ring. Driving in it at night, especially in its tunnels, always made me space out and wishing to have the proper spacy music. This mix tries fill this gap and be that spacey music. Space out!

I teamed up with french DJ Olivier Figuet for a double album of uplifting house beats. This is part 1, mixed and compiled by myself, with tracks by Fritz Kalkbrenner, Dennis Ferrer, Moloko, Mr. V, T-Ski Valley, 6th Borough Project.

A pot pourri of Rock and Disco classics with songs by Emmylou Harris, Bill Haley, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and many more. This mixtape was a demo tape in preparation of a 80’s birthday party where I was DJ and has now become the favorite mix of my kids.

The set starts slowly with some jazz, then kicks off with a few regular disco classics to get everybody on the dancefloor, builds up and peaks the tension with rock classics and finally after several ups and downs it finishes nice and smoothly with Bill Wither’s lovely day. (mehr …)

Third Volume of the Sidetrack Mixtape Serie: a potpourri of some of my all time favourite songs. Tracks by Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Fairport Convention, Jimi Hendrix and many more.  Do not hesitate to also check the first two volumes: Sidetracks Volume One and Sidetracks Volume Two.

Second Volume my Sidetracks Mixtapes Serie. The concept is the same, putting together some of my all time favorite songs.

Back again with a new mixtape. This time, it’s something I wanted to put together since very very long. The idea behind this mixtape serie „Sidetracks“  was to put together (in a as seamless way as possible) some of my all time favorite songs of various music styles that I can hear over and over, for some of them without  losing the ability to give these specials shivers.  On the other hand, the selected songs had also to have the potential to be listened at en passant, while for instance at work or doing anything focused. The challenge:  Intense listening pleasure & relaxing entertainment.

Live recording of Christopher and Felicia’s wedding party, june 5th, 2010. The wedding was fabulous and the party simply rocked. The music is what I would call eclectic, mixing all kinds of different music styles (disco, funk, rock, punk, grunge, rap, balkanic, house, techno, and the list goes on). The electro heads might have less fun listening to it, but all the others less underground tainted should enjoy, during a long car trip or even for a party.

This is volume 2 and follow-up of my soulful deep house mixtape serie in memory to the very special part of my life spent in Paris 2000/2001, and under heavy Naked Music Recordings sound influence. (mehr …)

To start off the 2010 relaxed with the proper vibes I put together some of my all time Jazzfunk favourites. Most of them are well known classics, but they just rock… I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

This is the live recording (6 hours of music) of a wedding party (Rosalie’s and Felix’s) where I’ve been deejaying september 19th. It’s a real mash-up of all kinds of different music styles from disco to electro (even including german carnival music). The people had fun though and the party went on till 7 AM.

This is a compilation of Disco and Funk tracks i use to play in my DJ sets. I concentrated on the end of the disco era from 1978 to 1982.  As this Mix is meant for partying, the tracks are certified 100% boogying disco dancers.

This is the third installement of the „Memories“ mix serie, done as a tribute to past music-tainted moments. As the title suggests, I focused this time on (what else!? 🙂 House Music, but in its original, more analog form. It contains mainly oldskool house classics we used to really dig  when they were released. Tracks by Masters at Work, Adeva, Kerri Chandler, Dajae, Armand van Helden,….

This time I compiled something different than the usual music sound of this blog: an ambient mix. It was a lot of fun putting it together and it turned out to be a nice accompaniment while for instance being at work. I hope you will see it the same way.

This is a new volume of my DJ mix serie named after precious stones. This time I felt more like mixing together Minimal and Techno tracks. The result became a deep uptempo techno mix, suited for after hour moments. Panorama Bar/Techno fans will enjoy this one, the others should probably avoid it: don’t bother listening if you’re not into Techno.

This mixtape contains various Disco classics I used to hear and dance to. Songs by Goody Goody, Salsoul Orchestra, First Choice, Mouzon’s Electric Band, …. (mehr …)

Deep and smooth House music with tracks by Herbert, Chateau Flight, Deep Dish, Schmoov!… (mehr …)

The second volume of the Deep House mix serie I started and containing current charts. Enjoy!

This is another Downtempo Mix I finally managed to finish just on time befor christmas. It’s more Jazz/Funk tainted.

This is the live recording of a 30th birthday party where I have been deejaying last summer here in Berlin. It showcases the other more mainstream side of my DJ skills, covering various different music styles from pop,  hip-hop, rock, reggae, salsa, jazz, and to finally end with a fabulous Vienna walz. There is definitely something for everybody in there. Check the tracklisting for more info.

Mix, with my current charts. The first volume of a mix serie i am about to put on this website. So stay tuned and enjoy!

A couple years ago, Steffen „Dixon“ Berkhahn started the Innercity clubnights at WEEK12END Berlin, bringing back to Techno/Electro/Minimal Berlin much needed Deep House sounds. It fastly became one of the most-talked about parties in the German capital with a very special type of music, an own style, that was and still is a major inspiration to many music lovers, and in particular to me.  So…. Having been spoiled for so long by this great music, having harrassed Dixon so often for the track titles…, I finally grouped the IMHO most remarkable tracks of the 2004-2005 years (at least some of them) in one mix together. I hope you will enjoy it and above all, get a little impression of the „innervision music style“. And if you like this type of music, and if you’ve never been to an Innercity night at WEEK12END in Berlin, then you sincerely shouldn’t wait any longer.

A Downtempo mix for much needed chill out moments. Tracks by Smith & Mudd, Bugge Wesseltoft, Dusty Springfield, Break Reform, Marius, Plaisir de France, Kanye West, Ashley Beedle, Pete Wingfield, Benny Blanko, Mark E, Womack & Womack, Alice Smith…

A Deep House Mix containing my current charts, mixed this time exclusively with my vinyls (no CD or whatsoever).

Little mix, supposed to give a little impression of all those fabulous sounds i get to listen here in Berlin. I mixed it the „oldschool“ way, on vinyl and a bit of CDJ.

A mix i did as a little birthday present for my beloved…Benita. It’s more of a jazzy Mix with tracks by Harry Connick Jr., Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Barry White… It ends up with a little bit of House though: tracks by Amp Fiddler, Herbert, Jazzanova .

After a DJ gig at WEEK12END, Jef came over to my place playing some records. This is the MP3 of it. It’s a very dark and deep mix, suited for kinda intense after-hour moments, and definetely less for chilling. Listen with caution! 🙂

A Mix i did for a very good friend, Seth, shortly after he had left Berlin. It’s a kind of Downtempo, Lounge, Chill House Mix finishing with some West Coast Stuff by Dermarkus Lewis, Lawnchair Generals… That’s the House sound i once used to listen to…

About the Mixtapes section

On this page you will find a selection of various mixtapes I have compiled and mixed in the past years. Since this section is also dedicated to an international audience, I am writing in English.
